Inawashiro Lake walk

It is time for a big walk, so together with Enno we registered for the Inawashiro Lake Road Walk. Inawashiro Lake is the fourth biggest lake (or the third biggest lake, depending on which website you check out) in Japan. The real tough guys walk it in one day (65km), but we will do it in two days.

We meet at the sportspark and buses take us to Inawashiro Lake. The hike starts at the other site of the lake and a swan shaped boat takes us there.

On Saturday we walk the short half: 25 km. It is a beautiful route, but unfortunately we have to walk on the road quite a lot. There is not a clear pedestrian area, what sometimes resulted in dangerous situations. We thought this was a bit strange, since Japanese are generally good in organizing and safety is included.
The route takes us over flat terrain and the view is beautiful, maybe we should have left it with this....

On Sunday is the big walk. Again the boat takes us to the other side of the lake, but this time we walk along the west side of the lake. The route is mostly over B-roads met a lot lesser traffer. Also this day the views are great.

With more than 10km to go, Lenette started talking to a professor at the Aizu-Wakamatsu University. He teaches "semiconductors". Good....... ASML needs engineers. I already visited the university and know that English training is very important at the university. Good....... ASML needs English speaking engineers. I saw this as a good opportunity to promote ASML and maybe attract some new engineers through the university. Wel, the promoting was necessary, he didn't know ASML....

The home stretch was heavy.... the mind is clear but it looks as if the legs don't want to move anymore. Then the end point can be seen, the last checkpost tells us it is only 300 meters more. Well, judging distances is clearly not his virtue, it is more than a kilometer, and that last kilometer is difficult.

But we made it, and the certificates are proof!
