Queensday
29 Apr 2006
So we are in Japan, but that doesn't mean Queensday is forgotten. We declined the invitation from the Dutch Embassy, to come over for a drink. Well, Osaka is quite a distance away, so we organized our own party.

This is the invitation we made. We made decorations from photos from internet, showing the royal family and traditional Queensday activities. A small family tree showed the current queen and her mother and grandmother. We explained that the first born is the heir to the throne, so sometimes we have a queen and sometimes we have a king. They thought that was a good idea. At this moment there is a Japanese emperial crisis, their only child is a girl. Officially woman have no right to become emperess in Japan...

We bought wreaths of orange flowers, which we gave as a welcome present. The Japanese had to get used to Lenette with the Dutch lion on her head and flags on her cheeks. But that didn't take long.

Even the Japanese cheeks were decorated with the Dutch flag. How's that for integration?

Carlos took care of the food and Vincent is checking to see whether everything is under control.

We couldn't have wished for a better ending of the party. From the balcony we had a perfeect view over the harbor, where the fireworks took place.

On Sunday we went for a walk with Edo. We did the waterfall route, close to Isahaya. Yes, nature is really beautiful here.

We ended the weekend with a visit to Seaside Park where the Nagasaki tall ships festival took place. All in all another great weekend!
